New Delhi. Delhi High Court has granted conditional bail to former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving life imprisonment in the Unnao rape case. Along with this, the High Court has also stayed the life sentence awarded by the lower court. The bench of Justice Subramaniam Prasad and Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar said that till the High Court’s decision in this matter is not given, the bail will remain effective and the sentence will remain suspended. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 15 January 2026. However, despite this relief from Delhi High Court, Kuldeep Singh Sengar will not be able to come out of jail.

Kuldeep was separately sentenced to 10 years in jail in the murder case of the rape victim’s father, so the former MLA will have to remain in jail for the time being. The Division Bench of the High Court said that Kuldeep Sengar will have to furnish a personal bond of Rs 15 lakh for bail and three sureties of the same amount. Along with this, the court has ordered in clear words that after being released on bail, Kuldeep Sengar will not come within a radius of 5 kilometers of the rape victim’s house nor will he give any kind of threat. Sengar will have to submit his passport to the trial court and attend the police station every Monday. Bail will be canceled in case of violation of any condition.

The court said that if Sengar’s sentence remains intact in future, he will have to surrender to serve the sentence. This incident of rape is of 2017. This matter had gained a lot of attention. Kuldeep Singh Sengar was arrested by CBI in April 2018. After this, in December 2019, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Sengar rape case. Due to this reason he lost his MLAship and BJP suspended him from the party.
