Difference from data source and Truecaller

CNAP does not rely on any third-party apps or crowdsourced data. This feature shows the caller name directly from the KYC-verified records of the telecom companies. That means the name that appears on the call will be legally linked to that number.

In contrast, Truecaller relies on names submitted by users, which may contain false or misleading information. CNAP is a network-level feature, so it becomes difficult to fake identities.

Phase wise rollout and support

Telecom companies have already started the trial of CNAP on 4G and 5G networks. It will be added later on the old network. Apart from this, smartphone manufacturing companies will have to provide CNAP support in their devices within six months.
