Know the reason for the discontinuation of KTM RC 390
The reason behind the discontinuation of KTM RC 390 in the global market is its continuously decreasing demand. This has also been accepted by the company. This bike was not able to sell as expected in markets like United Kingdom and Europe. For this reason KTM decided to remove it from there.
It is still offered with the older 373cc engine, while the rest of the company’s 390 series (like the Duke 390 and Adventure 390) are now offered with the new 399cc LC4c engine. This engine also meets Euro 5+ emission norms. Updating the RC 390’s engine to Euro 5+ would have been costly, which would have increased its price further and made the bike more difficult to sell. There is a plan to sell whatever RC 390 stock is left in the global market by 2026.

The situation is a little different in India. Here the demand for RC 390 is still enough to maintain limited production. This is the reason why KTM India has not discontinued this model at present.
Interestingly, the RC 390 is still listed on the KTM India website, but with “Coming Soon” written next to the price.
The last known price of RC 390 during GST 2.0 was Rs 3.23 lakh (ex-showroom).
This indicates that KTM may relaunch the RC 390 with new color options, and its prices may also be changed at the same time.

KTM is currently working on the new generation RC 390, which has been spotted testing abroad several times. Many major changes can be seen in this upcoming model. It will have a new fairing design, which will be similar to the first generation RC 390. The fairing will have windows showing the engine and cooling system. It can be given a banana shaped swingarm with underbelly exhaust.
A new 399cc LC4c engine can be given in it, which generates about 46 PS of power and 40 Nm of torque. This engine will come with 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter.
This bike will also be fully equipped in terms of features and electronics. Its price can also be kept accordingly. However, there is currently no official information regarding the launch timeline.
