5 wickets in one over! Right arm fast bowler created history, finished the match in 6 balls

Indonesia’s 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler Gede Priyandana added a new chapter in cricket history. He did the world’s first such feat by taking 5 wickets in a single over in a T20 International match. This feat happened on 23 December 2025 in the match against Cambodia in Bali. Thanks to this, Indonesia won the match by 60 runs.

exciting turn of the match

Batting first, Indonesia scored 167 runs. Cambodia team was chasing the target. At the end of 15 overs their score was 106 runs for 5 wickets. To win they needed 62 runs in 5 overs. Then Gede Priyandana came to bowl in the 16th over. This was his first over of the match.

ball by ball story of the over

Priyandana completed her hat-trick by taking consecutive wickets in the first three balls. He dismissed Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljeet Singh and Chanthum Rathanak. No runs were scored on the fourth ball. Mongdra was soaked out on the fifth ball.

After this came a wide ball. Pel Venak’s wicket fell on the last legal ball and the entire Cambodia team was reduced to 107 runs. Only one run was made from wide in the entire over. In this way the match ended suddenly.

Rare record in T20 cricket

In T20 cricket (including domestic), 5 wickets have been taken in an over only three times. Earlier, Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hussain (2013-14) and India’s Abhimanyu Mithun (2019-20) had done this feat in domestic matches. But Priyandana is the first bowler in T20 International. This has happened for the first time in men’s or women’s cricket.

Cases of 4 wickets in an over

Talking about international stars, 4 wickets have been taken in one over many times. There are total 14 such cases. The most famous is that of Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga, who took 4 wickets in 4 consecutive balls against South Africa in the 2007 World Cup and in T20 against New Zealand in 2019. This performance of Gede Priyandana became memorable for cricket lovers.
