‘You made Delhi a gas chamber..’, LG vs AAP again in the capital, VK Saxena wrote a 15 page letter to Kejriwal

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday wrote a letter to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, holding his government responsible for the deteriorating air quality of the capital. In a 15-page letter, LG Saxena said that the negligence and criminal inaction of you and your government for 11 years is responsible for the emergency-like air condition in the capital. However, Delhi is currently ruled by BJP Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This letter written by Delhi LG to the former Chief Minister has come in the background of persistent and severe air pollution crisis in the capital.

‘Media will pick it up only in 15-20 days’

Referring to November 2022, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena wrote in the letter that when you were the Chief Minister and I used to talk to you on pollution, you used to say that sir, this happens every year. Within 15-20 days the media raises it, activists/courts make it an issue and then everyone forgets it. You too don’t pay attention to this.

LG wrote that after the mandate of 8th February, I expected that you and your party would introspect and bring about changes in themselves. But with great regret I have to say that, from the defeat in Delhi, neither did you learn any lesson, nor did any positive change take place in you or your defeated colleagues. He further said that even today your politics is based only on negativity and factless propaganda.

Supported Delhi government

LG further wrote that till a few days ago, only your colleagues were making unrestrained statements at your instigation, but since last few days, on the issue of air pollution in Delhi, you too have started doing your familiar two-faced politics as openly as before. LG Saxena wrote that a government which is only 10 months old, which, unlike you, is working to improve the legacy given by you on the streets, you and your colleagues are continuously discouraging it.

‘Disrupting the new government for petty politics’

The Lieutenant Governor wrote that he has been closely watching the governance of Delhi for the last three and a half years and according to him, Kejriwal is trying to unnecessarily disrupt the 10-month term of the new government only for small political gains, while the present government is trying to correct its past mistakes.

Accusation of refusing to meet and blocking the phone

LG Saxena also said that he could have said all these things in person or over the phone, but after the election defeat, Kejriwal did not meet him and even blocked his number. Referring to another couplet, he wrote, “Wherever it is necessary to meet, have the courage to meet.”

Bad AQI even during AAP government

AAP supremo Kejriwal also faced similar hazardous air-quality levels during his tenure. Like the BJP’s election manifesto, he had promised to take aggressive steps to reduce pollution in the city. In February this year, the Aam Aadmi Party suffered a major setback when it lost the elections to the BJP. This cleared the way for the saffron party to return to power in Delhi after 26 years. After the defeat in Delhi, AAP is now running the government in Punjab only under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
