Group captain Shubhanshu Shukla honored with ‘Man of the Year’ award by ‘The Week’ magazine
New Delhi, December 23, 2025: Group Captain Shubanshu Shukla Indian Air ForceA Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been honored with Man of the Year by ‘The Week’ magazine. Indian Air Force has given information regarding this through its social media X. Accordingly, in the latest issue of The Week published on 21 December 2025, Shubhanshu Shukla has been congratulated for his historic achievement as a mission pilot.
Axiom in Axiom-4 represents a private spaceflight mission conducted by the private US company Axiom Space in collaboration with NASA and SpaceX, and the number 4A represents the fourth iteration of this mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Ax-4 carried 4 astronauts – Shubhanshu Shukla (India), Peggy Whitson (USA), Sławoj Uznański (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary) – the first mission by each nation to the ISS in history.

Axiom-4A Shukla, launched by SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft in June 2025, will be the first to visit ISS Indian astronaut And in 1984, he became the second Indian to travel in space after Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma.
Initially planned for 14 days, the mission lasted for 18 days, where Shukla conducted various STEM experiments, documented the daily lives of the astronauts and returned home with students and young scientists to inspire and spark their interest in science and research. Their safe return reflected not only their personal dedication and skill but also India’s growing presence in space.
By being part of the Axiom-4 mission, India has once again positioned itself as an active contributor to global human spaceflight, in alignment with the plans for the Indian Space Station, focusing on India’s broader spaceflight ambitions, including the ongoing Gaganyaan programme.
