Islamabad. Five constables were killed today in an attack on a police van in Gurguri area of Karak in Pakistan’s restive province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. District Superintendent of Police Shaukat Khan has confirmed the incident and the number of constables injured.
According to Dawn newspaper report, District Superintendent of Police Khan said that the martyred policemen have been identified as constables Shahid Iqbal, Samiullah, Arif, Safdar and Mohammad Abrar. He told that the area has been surrounded. The attackers are being searched. According to the report of Duniya News Channel, the five constables were out on patrol as usual. The attackers ambushed him and opened fire on his van.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, a total of 1,588 terrorist incidents took place in which 223 civilians died and 570 were injured. Additionally, 137 police officers were martyred and 236 others were injured, while 18 law enforcement personnel from various agencies also lost their lives.
The report said that 124 Federal Constabulary personnel were martyred and 244 were injured in these attacks. During this period, security forces played an important role in fighting terrorism. 348 terrorists were killed during various operations. Maximum 394 incidents related to terrorism took place in Bannu region. 41 police officers were martyred and 89 were injured. 54 civilian deaths and 125 injuries were also reported in the region.
