A bad start for the Sri Lankan batsmen

Batting first, Sri Lanka did not get off to a good start. Kranti Goud gave Team India a breakthrough in the very first over. She dismissed Vishmi Gunaratne for one run. Sri Lanka suffered another shock on 38 runs. Sneh Rana dismissed skipper Chamari Atapattu, who was dismissed for 31 off 24 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

Hasini Perera and Harshita Samaravikram put together a brilliant partnership to save Sri Lanka’s innings. Both these batsmen shared a partnership of 44 runs for the third wicket. Then Harshita Madavi, who batted well, was dismissed for 33 off 32 balls, which included four fours. The team lost three wickets in the last over.

Brilliant batting by Shafali Verma

Team India also got off to a poor start while chasing the target. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma opened the innings. The first blow to the team came at 29 when Mandhana was dismissed for 14 off 11 balls. After that there was a partnership of 58 runs for the second wicket. Jemima was dismissed for 26 off 15 balls with 4 fours. Shafali Verma and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then completed the remainder, though Harmanpreet was dismissed in the end. Shafali Verma scored a brilliant half-century and a match-winning knock, scoring an unbeaten 69 off 34 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 10 runs off 12 balls.
