Bomb threat to British Airways flight coming from London to Hyderabad, investigation after safe landing

Security agencies became alert after receiving a bomb threat to an international British Airways flight coming from London to Hyderabad. The incident occurred on Monday (December 22), when an alert was issued at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport regarding British Airways flight BA 277. Officials confirmed this on Tuesday (December 23).

According to sources, an email was received on the customer support system of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, which claimed that a bomb was present in British Airways flight BA 277 coming from London’s Heathrow Airport to Hyderabad. As soon as this information was received, the airport administration and security agencies immediately implemented standard security protocols.

Officials said that after the plane landed safely in Hyderabad, it was parked at a safe place separate from other planes. The passengers were deboarded from the plane in a controlled manner and were subjected to thorough security checks. The passengers’ luggage was also searched thoroughly. During this time, fire brigade vehicles and emergency services remained fully deployed, so that any possible danger could be dealt with.

As part of the security check, the help of bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs was taken. A thorough search of the aircraft cabin, cargo hold and surrounding area was conducted. According to officials, after several hours of investigation, no suspicious object or explosive material was found.

The flight was cleared after the investigation was completed and all safety standards were found to be satisfactory. After this, this British Airways aircraft departed from Hyderabad back to London as per prescribed procedures. No passenger or crew member was harmed in this incident.

Airport officials said that the email sent regarding the bomb threat is being investigated and efforts are being made to find out who sent the threat and for what purpose. Cyber and intelligence agencies are taking this matter seriously.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first incident. Earlier this month, Hyderabad airport had received bomb threat emails regarding two Indigo Airlines flights. One of these flights, which was coming to Hyderabad from Madinah, was diverted to Ahmedabad airport as a precautionary measure, while the other flight was coming to Hyderabad from Sharjah.

In view of such continuous threats, security agencies are on high alert. The airport administration has appealed to the passengers to ignore the rumors and cooperate with the security procedures, as the safety of passengers is the top priority.
