India took lead in the series by defeating Sri Lanka

New Delhi: India again won the second match of the ongoing 5-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka women’s cricket teams. This match took place at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. With this success, the Indian team has taken a 2-0 lead in the series.

Right decision taken by India

In this match, the Indian team decided to bowl first. Winning the toss, they invited Sri Lanka to bat.

Sri Lanka’s batting remained weak

Sri Lankan batsmen did not perform effectively and did not face the Indian bowling well. They set a target of 129 runs, in which Haritha Samarawickrama scored 33 runs in 32 balls. Captain Chamari Atapattu also contributed 31 runs, which included 2 sixes and 3 fours. The effective strategy of the Indian bowlers did not give the Sri Lankan batsmen a chance to play freely. Vaishnavi Sharma and N Sri Charani took 2 wickets each for India.

Shefali Verma’s brilliant performance

Indian batsmen displayed aggressive play while chasing the target. Especially, Shefali Verma’s stormy innings turned the match in favor of the Indian team. He scored 69 runs in 34 balls and gave the team victory in the 12th over itself. Apart from Shefali, Smriti Mandhana scored 14, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 26 and Harmanpreet Kaur scored 10 runs. Malki Madara, Kavya Kavindi, and Kavisha Dilhari took 1-1 wicket for Sri Lanka.
