AI should be part of school and college curriculum: Vice President
New Delhi: india Vice President C.P. Radhakrishna today Dr. of New Delhi. Participated in the Flagship National Conclave on the topic “AI Evolution – AI no Mahakumbh” organized by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Outlook Magazine at Ambedkar International Centre.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President underlined that Artificial Intelligence is no longer a concept of the future but a reality of the present, impacting diverse sectors including healthcare diagnostics, climate modelling, governance, education, finance and national security, and reshaping how societies develop and how individuals live and work.
The Vice President said that there is no need to be pessimistic about modern scientific and technological developments. Drawing an analogy with the advent of computers, which initially met with resistance but later reshaped the world, he observed that every technological advancement brings both positive and negative aspects. He stressed that it is our responsibility to find ways to use technology in a positive and constructive way.
The Vice President had said that India has emerged among the leading nations in Artificial Intelligence. Emphasizing that the world is changing rapidly, he warned against stagnation and urged that India should not lag behind in the race to catch up with developed countries in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
On this occasion, the Vice President had expressed satisfaction over the launch of AI course. He stressed that Artificial Intelligence should be an integral part of the curriculum in schools and colleges, and added that AI This early exposure to technology will equip students with the critical thinking, problem-solving skills and capabilities required for a technology-driven world. He further stressed that educational institutions must continuously evolve to keep pace with the rapid technological changes and emerge as centers of excellence and innovation.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, the Vice President noted that about 65 per cent of the population is below 35 years of age. He said that if this demographic dividend is properly utilized, it can help India emerge as the world’s leading nation in Artificial Intelligence. He said that Artificial Intelligence will play an important role in India’s journey towards a self-reliant, inclusive and technologically empowered India @ 2047.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible and ethical AI, the Vice President said that any scientific advancement should not harm humanity and technology should ultimately help people live happier, more prosperous and dignified lives. He stressed that artificial intelligence should enhance human intelligence and be guided by ethical principles to advance social welfare and public interest. At the end of his address, the Vice President expressed confidence that India will adopt Artificial Intelligence only responsibly with its talent, vision and values. Not only this, it will also guide the world in shaping its future.
