Thackeray brothers’ alliance confirmed for BMC elections, announced on Wednesday!

The alliance between Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena UBT) and Raj Thackeray (MNS) ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections is now official. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut posted photos of both Thackeray brothers on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday.

Earlier, while talking to reporters, Sanjay Raut had confirmed the ‘Manomilan’ (meeting of hearts) and said that workers of both the parties have accepted this alliance wholeheartedly and they are already working together at the grassroots level.

“When both the brothers came together against the imposition of Hindi from Class 1 in Maharashtra schools, that’s when the ‘manomilan’ (meeting of hearts) took place. The seat-sharing arrangement was finalized last night,” Raut said.

He further said that although the alliance is a reality, a formal announcement regarding specific seats will be made on Wednesday.

Raut revealed that an agreement has been reached between the ‘Thackeray brothers’, and formal seat-sharing is expected to be announced soon. He said the groundwork for the alliance has been completed and stressed that it takes time for the large number of municipalities to adjust, but the main deal has been finalized.

He said, “The process of filing nominations for the municipal elections has started. Our discussions about Nashik, Pune, Kalyan-Dombivli and Mira-Bhayandar have been completed. Dealing with so many corporations naturally takes some time.

Regarding Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), we have to respect the sentiments of workers from both the parties. Since the alliance involves exchange of some seats, we are finalizing those details. Candidate AB forms are already being distributed.”

Raut further clarified that now the question is not whether they will partner or not, but how the seats will be distributed. He claimed that there is no internal difference regarding seat sharing. ‘We come together from the heart.’

He further said that the alliance was sealed when Raj and Uddhav Thackeray came together in July against the state government’s move to introduce Hindi along with Marathi and English from Class 1 and said there were no differences over seat-sharing.

“Instructions have been issued to party workers and there is no confusion among the workers regarding the alliance,” he said.

He further said that talks are going on with Jayant Patil of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) for coordination under the Maha Vikas Aghadi framework.

Although formal talks with the Congress are ‘closed’ for now, Raut congratulated them on their success in the recent local body elections. He indicated that Shiv Sena (UBT) is ready to cooperate with Congress in future if the need arises.
