Big action by Lokayukta, woman policeman arrested for taking bribe, SP suspended

A major action by Lokayukta has come to light in Dewas. On Tuesday, December 23, head constable Shaheen Khan, posted at Mahila police station, was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. This step has been taken on the basis of the complaint of complainant Vishal Parmar.

According to Lokayukta Police, Vishal Parmar had lodged a complaint with the Ujjain Lokayukta Superintendent of Police on December 19. His wife Archana has gone to Dewas Mahila Police Station to complain of assault and dowry harassment. During this time, Head Constable Shaheen Khan had demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 for taking action.

On receiving the complaint, Lokayukta Inspector Deepak Sejwar investigated the matter. After which the allegations were found to be true. Then a plan was made. The trap team carried out the action. Applicant Vishal Parmar was sent with the money. As soon as the lady head constable accepted the bribe amount, the Lokayukta team caught her red handed.

Accused policeman suspended

Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlot has also taken major action in this matter. The accused woman constable has been suspended with immediate effect for tarnishing the image of the police department. Women police station in-charge Sunita Katara has been attached on the line. Further action will be taken under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused will be interrogated.
