Cameron Green sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 25.20 crore in IPL 2026 Auction
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 25.20 crore at the IPL 2026 Auction on Tuesday, becoming the third-most expensive player in IPL history and the costliest overseas buy ever at an auction.
KKR faced early competition from Rajasthan Royals, which exited once the bidding crossed Rs. 13 crore, before Chennai Super Kings entered and drove the price beyond Rs. 20 crore. KKR eventually outlasted CSK to secure Green at Rs. 25.20 crore.
The 26-year-old has an impressive IPL record, having scored 707 runs at a strike rate of 153.69 across two seasons with Mumbai Indians in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024, along with 16 wickets with his right-arm pace. Green missed the 2025 season due to injury and had entered the auction as a batter, but confirmed last week that he will be fit to bowl in IPL 2026.
“I’ll be good to bowl,” said Green. “I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end.”
