‘Bharat Mata’ replica made of 2.5 lakh colorful lamps in Dombivali creates world record
Dombivli city of Thane district of Maharashtra has set a new world record by presenting a wonderful confluence of art, culture and patriotism. A huge replica of ‘Bharat Mata’ made of about 2.5 lakh colorful earthen lamps (lamps) in Dombivali got its name registered in the World Records India. This grand artwork is not only in the news for its size and beauty, but the cultural and emotional sentiment behind it has also won the hearts of people.
This record making artwork has been displayed at Dombivali Gymkhana ground, where thousands of citizens are coming every day to see it. The project was conceptualized and organized by Dombivlikar A Cultural Family, guided by Ravindra Chavan, Maharashtra State President of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Ravindra Chavan said on the occasion that Dombivali has always been a major center of Marathi literature, art and culture. He told that the inspiration for this unique initiative came from the values inherited from childhood, where Mother India is worshiped in the form of a goddess. He said that it was decided to pay this historical and creative tribute to commemorate 150 years of the song ‘Vande Mataram’.
This huge mosaic artwork measures approximately 95 feet in height and 75 feet in width, making it one of the world’s largest art pieces made of lamps. Artists Chetan Raut, Prabhu Kapse, Vaibhav Kapse and their team worked day and night for nine consecutive days to give shape to this artwork. Painting, decorating and installing the lamps with precision was an extremely challenging task, which the artists accomplished with amazing skill.
Ravindra Chavan praised the artists and their entire team and said that this is not just an art work but a living symbol of reverence and respect for the motherland. He also underlined that the use of earthen lamps symbolizes the same soil from which Mother India was created, which further increases the emotional and cultural significance of this creation.
This grand installation is part of the annual festival ‘Utsav’ organized by Dombivali Gymkhana. Organizers said that this artwork will remain open to the general public till December 28, 2025. Citizens have been urged to turn out in large numbers to witness this historic and inspiring artistic achievement. This ‘Bharat Mata’ mosaic made in Dombivali is not only a world record, but it is also an example of art, culture and patriotism, which will continue to inspire the coming generations.
