ICC Ranking: All-rounder Deepti Sharma shines, becomes world number T20 bowler, beats Annabel Sutherland

Dubai, 23 December. Indian women’s cricket team’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has become the world’s new number one bowler in the T20 format. Deepti secured the top position leaving Australia’s Annabel Sutherland behind.

Top-10 Deepti is the only Indian bowler in

Deepti Sharma is the only Indian bowler in the top-10 of the T20 rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Annabel Sutherland of Australia is in second place while Saadia Iqbal of Pakistan is in third place. Both these players have lost one place each.

England’s Sophie Eccleston and her compatriot Lauren Bell are at the fourth and fifth positions. South Africa’s Ann Malaba, Australia’s Georgia Wareham, England’s Charlie Dean, West Indies’ Afi Fletcher and Pakistan’s Nashra Sandhu are ranked sixth to tenth respectively.

Tea20 Mandhana remains at third place in the ranking of batsmen

Australia’s Beth Mooney continues to top the rankings for women’s T20 batsmen. Hayley Mathews of West Indies is in second place, while Smriti Mandhana of India remains in third place.

Jemimah Rodrigues gains 5 places, reaches top-10

Australia’s Tahlia McGrath is fourth, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt is fifth, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Atapattu is sixth, South Africa’s Tajmin Britts is seventh, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is eighth and India’s Jemimah Rodrigues is ninth. Rodriguez has gained five places. India’s Shefali Verma is at tenth position and has lost one place.

Mandhana slipped to second place in ODI batting rankings

In the new women’s ODI batting rankings, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has once again overtaken India’s Smriti Mandhana to reach the first position. Wolvaardt has gained one place while Mandhana has slipped to second place and lost one place.

Interestingly, in the ODI batting rankings, only Mandhana and Wolvaardt have seen changes in their rankings. Australia’s Ashley Gardner, England’s Nate Siver-Brunt, Australia’s Beth Mooney, Australia’s Alyssa Healy, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, Australia’s Ellyse Perry, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews and India’s Jemimah Rodrigues are ranked third to tenth respectively.
