Scholarship program opens pathway to UK-standard degrees in Vietnam for 2026 intake

New pathway to UK degrees

The United Kingdom has long been a preferred study destination for Vietnamese students, with universities that date back centuries and qualifications that are widely recognized internationally. Most U.K. bachelor’s programs are completed in three years, offering a shorter study duration compared with many other countries.

Manchester is one of the U.K.’s major university cities, with a large international student population and a strong economic base in sectors such as finance, technology, and creative industries. It is also frequently ranked among the world’s most liveable cities.

However, tuition and living costs remain a key barrier for many families. According to Manchester Metropolitan University, the estimated cost of a three-year undergraduate degree in the U.K. is £91,000-96,000 (US$121,700-128,400), including annual tuition fees of £20,000-£21,500 and living expenses of approximately £13,700 per academic year, excluding additional costs such as visas and travel.

From 2026, British University Vietnam (BUV) and Manchester Metropolitan University will jointly deliver Manchester Metropolitan University degree programs entirely in Vietnam. This marks the first time these degrees will be available locally.

To coincide with the inaugural intake, the two institutions have launched a scholarship fund for eligible students enrolling in 2026. The scholarships aim to reduce overall study costs compared with studying in the U.K. BUV will also cover certain program-related expenses, including studio materials, specialist equipment, and professional software.

Two centuries of British academic heritage

Founded in 1824, Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the U.K.’s older public universities, with more than 41,000 students. The institution is known for its applied-learning focus and industry-linked programs.

Starting in 2026, five programs will be offered at BUV: Bachelor of Business & Technology, Bachelor of Banking & International Finance, Bachelor of Graphic Design, Bachelor of Illustration & Animation, and Master of Business. These programs were selected from Manchester Metropolitan University’s broader portfolio based on industry relevance and graduate employment outcomes.

Manchester Metropolitan University Business School holds triple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, a distinction achieved by only around 1% of business schools globally.. In the arts, the Manchester School of Art is ranked between 51-100 worldwide in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.

BUV is currently Manchester Metropolitan University’s only partner institution in Vietnam.

“Manchester Metropolitan University looks for outstanding partners globally, and BUV is a natural match,” said Matt Dean, Director of International Relations at Manchester Metropolitan University. “Our academic standards remain at the highest level. Programs delivered in Vietnam will be jointly designed, taught, and quality-assured to mirror those in Manchester. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to access a genuine U.K. education without leaving Vietnam.”

Dual qualifications and career support

Students enrolled in the programs will follow the same curriculum, academic standards, and assessment methods used at Manchester Metropolitan University. Teaching and quality assurance will be conducted jointly by both institutions.

Graduates will receive both a Manchester Metropolitan University degree and a BUV degree. According to BUV, this dual qualification provides international recognition and is also recognized within Vietnam’s public sector. BUV is currently the only foreign-invested private university in Vietnam to hold both international accreditation and official recognition from the Ministry of Education and Training (2025).

Students will also have access to BUV’s career development services, including skills assessments, career counseling, and employer connections. Internship opportunities are available from the first year of study, without additional fees.

In addition, students may participate in exchange or transfer programs with more than 70 partner universities across 17 countries. Graduates can pursue postgraduate study in the U.K. or other international destinations through Manchester Metropolitan University’s global network.

British University Vietnam is the first institution in Vietnam to receive a QS 5-star rating and the first in Vietnam and ASEAN to achieve accreditation from the U.K.’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
