ISRO blasts on Christmas, Baahubali lifts the heaviest American satellite till date
News India Live, Digital Desk: You all know that whenever it comes to sending heavy objects into space, even the biggest agencies of the world think a hundred times. But our ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) has once again proved today that we are no less than anyone. Yes, India’s most powerful rocket LVM3 – which we fondly call ‘Bahubali’ – has achieved another great feat. The most interesting thing is that this time our ‘Bahubali’ has carried not a small load but a very heavy American satellite on its back and made it travel in the sky. Imagine, even America, which is called the king of technology, is now trusting India for its heavy satellites. What happened today? This morning (December 24), the LVM3 rocket took off with a roar from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. America’s satellite named BlueBird Block-2 was kept inside it. It sounds like just a launch, but believe me it is a big deal. This satellite weighs about 6,100 kg! That is, this is the heaviest alien parcel ever sent by LVM3 into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). How will this work? (In simple language) Now you must be thinking that brother, what is this ‘BlueBird’ and what is the benefit to the general public from it? See, this satellite belongs to AST SpaceMobile company. Its purpose is very wonderful. Till now we need towers to run internet on mobile, right? If you go to a forest or mountain where there is no tower, your phone becomes a ‘box’. But this satellite will send signals directly from space to your mobile. Meaning internet from space directly to your phone! This is called ‘Direct-to-Device’ technology. It has been launched to test this technology and take it to the world. Why did America choose India? This question must have come to your mind. Elon Musk owns SpaceX, still why ISRO? There are two main reasons: Trust: Our LVM3 rocket (earlier called GSLV Mk-3) has been perfect in all its missions so far. Be it Chandrayaan-3 or OneWeb satellites, Baahubali has never disappointed. Accuracy and low cost: There is no comparison to the precision with which ISRO puts the satellites in the orbit. And yes, we are famous for Jugaad and economical missions. Bahubali’s magic LVM3 is not a common rocket. Its height is approximately 43.5 meters (think the size of a 14-storey building) and it weighs 640 tonnes. When it takes-off, the earth is felt trembling. The success of this launch has made it clear that India has now become a big player in the ‘commercial market’ (ie releasing satellites for others for money). Be proud and share. This is not just a launch, it is a changing picture of India. Gone are the times when we were dependent on others, today the superpowers of the world are handing over their most valuable things to us. So next time when you look at the sky, remember that up there our ‘Baahubali’ and the name of India is shining. Jai Hind!
