Two more dengue patients died in Delhi, the number this year reaches four; Health department worried
The outbreak of dengue in the capital may have been less this year compared to previous years, but the deaths have increased the concern of the health department. MCD has confirmed two more deaths due to dengue. With this, the number of deaths due to dengue has increased to four in 2025.
According to MCD, 1469 dengue cases have been reported so far this year. However, this number is much less than the 6,391 cases recorded in 2024, 9,266 in 2023, 4,469 in 2022 and 9,613 in 2021. Officials say that in most of the cases of deaths, the condition of the patients was already critical. If we look at the figures, four deaths have been recorded so far in 2025, while 11 people died due to dengue in 2024, 19 in 2023, nine in 2022 and 23 in 2021. Thus, despite the reduction in cases, the lethal impact has not completely ended.
Till December 20, 1305 dengue cases have been reported in the areas under MCD. Of these, the maximum number of cases have been reported in the Central Zone (163). Apart from MCD areas, dengue cases have also been reported in NDMC, Delhi Cantt and Railway areas. Including all these agencies, the number of dengue cases in Delhi has reached 1469. MCD says that to control dengue, fogging, anti-larva campaign, door-to-door survey and action to prevent waterlogging are continuing.
