Why is the rapist out? Unnao rape victim’s mother assaulted, allegation – policemen held her hostage, Yogi’s minister made fun of her

Such scenes came to light in the country’s capital Delhi on Wednesday, which once again raised big questions on the system and sensitivity. The Unnao rape victim and her elderly mother were prevented from speaking to the media, and it is alleged that paramilitary forces forced the mother to jump from a moving bus. All this happened when the victim and her mother had come out to raise their voice against the relief given to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar by the Delhi High Court.

Delhi High Court has suspended the life sentence of Kuldeep Singh Sengar pending his appeal. The victim, her mother and lawyer-activist Yogita Bhayana were protesting in Delhi against this decision. But the way the attempt to protest was stopped shocked the entire country.

Uttar Pradesh government minister OP Rajbhar has reacted to Delhi High Court granting conditional bail to Unnao rape case convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar. He said, “The court has said that Kuldeep Singh Sengar will stay at least 5 kilometers away from the victim’s family. When the family was protesting in Delhi, the police told them that when the court has made this arrangement, then how can they be unsafe?”

Stopped from going to Mandi House, bus was not stopped

On Tuesday night, the victim, her mother and Yogita Bhayana protested at India Gate, after which all three were taken into custody. He had planned to talk to the media at Mandi House on Wednesday morning. But the bus in which he was being taken under CRPF surveillance did not stop at Mandi House.

A CRPF official told NDTV that permission was not given for the demonstration at Mandi House or India Gate. According to the officer, the victim and her mother were to either be taken to Jantar Mantar or dropped back to their home in Delhi.

Elderly mother forced to jump from moving bus

The most shocking part of the incident came to light when the victim’s mother was seen at the gate of the moving bus. It is alleged that CRPF jawans kept elbowing him and asking him to jump from the bus. The surprising thing was that not a single female CRPF personnel was present in the bus, whereas a female rape survivor and her mother were being transported in the bus. After continuous pushing, the victim’s mother jumped from the moving bus. The bus in which the victim was traveling moved ahead without stopping.

Pain of the victim’s mother: “My daughter has been taken hostage”

After the incident, the victim’s mother standing on the road told the media that ‘we did not get justice. My daughter has been taken hostage. Looks like they want to kill us. The CRPF men took the girl away and left me on the road. We will give our lives. We were going to protest at Mandi House, but were forcibly taken away.

“How can our judiciary do this to us?”

Speaking to NDTV, the victim said, “How can our judiciary do this to us?” She said that this relief has been given just before the Uttar Pradesh elections and she will challenge this decision in the Supreme Court. The victim said that ‘there should be an emergency hearing.’ Kuldeep Singh has money and power, and we are the ones who have to suffer.

CRPF’s side: was being taken back home

A CRPF officer claimed that the victim was being taken back to her home in Delhi. The victim has been living under CRPF protection for the last eight years after continuous threats and several tragic incidents.

Why does Kuldeep Singh Sengar get relief from the High Court?

Delhi High Court on Tuesday suspended the life sentence awarded in 2019 and granted conditional bail to Sengar. The court said that under the pre-2019 POCSO law, an MLA could not be considered a “public servant” or a “person in a position of trust”. In such a situation, the minimum punishment is seven years, which Sengar has already served.

Conditions imposed on Sanger

Personal bond of Rs 15 lakh, stay only in Delhi, barred from entry within a radius of 5 kilometers from the victim’s house, no contact or threat to the victim or her family, surrender of passport, appearance before the police every week. However, Sengar will still be in jail for 10 years in the case of custodial death of the victim’s father.

9 years of battle, but justice still far away

During the demonstration at India Gate on 23 December, the victim and her mother had expressed fear for their safety. Mother had said. ‘We have been fighting for justice for 9 years. I lost my husband in this fight. The police scare us, misbehave with us. My family is not safe.”
