Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s interim bail extended till January 27
A district and sessions court in Islamabad on December 23, 2025 extended the **pre-arrest interim bail** of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in several cases, including cases related to the May 9, 2023 violence, attempt to murder and alleged submission of fake receipts.
Additional District and Sessions Judge **Muhammad Afzal Majoka** presided over the hearing, where lawyer Shamsa Kayani represented the couple. Due to the absence of Imran Khan – who is lodged in Adiala jail – the court could not proceed with the arguments on the bail pleas. The court directed Khan to appear in person or through video link in the next hearing on **January 27, 2026**.
In a separate proceeding, Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhary Aamir Zia also extended the interim bail of Bushra Bibi till the same date in a pre-arrest case registered under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act at Ramna police station.
**Legal Access Concerns**
PTI condemned the ongoing restrictions in Adiala jail, alleging that lawyer Khalid Yousuf Choudhary was not allowed to meet Imran Khan to obtain signature on power of attorney documents for his appeal against the recent sentence in the Toshakhana-II case (both sentenced to 17 years on December 20, 2025). The party claims this is a violation of prison rules and constitutional rights to a fair trial and legal access.
Khan is facing multiple cases since being ousted from power in 2022, and PTI says all of them are politically motivated.
