Hindu youth burnt alive, storm raised in Britain over brutality in Bangladesh; Know what happened?

Bangladesh Hindu Deepu Das Lynching: The case of brutal murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das by a mob in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh has created deep concern not only in India but also in the international community. Protests are taking place against Bangladesh in many states of India regarding this incident. At the same time, this murder is being strongly condemned in foreign countries also.

Meanwhile, British MP Tom Morrison has written a letter to the British Foreign Minister regarding this incident. In the letter, while referring to the incident that took place on December 18, he said that Dipu Das was first brutally beaten by an angry mob, then his body was hanged from a tree and set on fire. The MP has described this entire incident as extremely cruel, intimidating and shameful to humanity.

Serious questions on the role of administration

Tom Morrison also mentioned in his letter that initially the murder was linked to allegations of blasphemy but Bangladeshi investigating agencies later clarified that no evidence was found for any such allegation. Investigation revealed that the case started as a normal work dispute which turned violent due to rumors and communal bias.

The MP has also raised serious questions on the role of the administration. He wrote that Dipu Das was removed from the workplace in the name of his safety but after this he was handed over to the angry mob. Tom Morrison called it a major lapse in law and order and administration.

Deepu was the only earner of the family

The letter also stated that Dipu Das worked in a textile factory and was the sole earner of his family. His murder is not only a matter of loss of life but it also raises serious questions about the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh. The MP said that false allegations, communal mentality and mob violence together are creating such fatal consequences, with minority communities being the biggest victims.

Deteriorating situation of Hindus in Bangladesh

Tom Morrison also wrote that this incident has caused deep anger and fear in the Hindu community living in Britain. Many leaders of the British Hindu community have contacted him and expressed concern over the deteriorating situation of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. According to the MP, many families have family ties to Bangladesh and they fear that even ordinary disputes can be weaponized against minorities.
