4 underpasses cancelled, now construction will be done only on Bakhtawar and Krishna Chowk – News

A very important update has come out for thousands of people waiting for metro connectivity in Old Gurugram. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has made a major change in its construction plan and has decided to reduce the number of underpasses. The administration has taken this step after reviewing the old plan made to ease the traffic on the route, which will see a major change in the structure of the project.

Approval given in GMRL Board meeting: Four underpasses out of six proposed have now been cancelled.

This proposal was discussed in detail in the important meeting of the GMRL Board held recently on Tuesday. After extensive deliberations on traffic management and resource utilization during the construction of the Old Gurugram Metro, it was decided that out of the six underpasses previously proposed on the Metro route, four would no longer be constructed. The board has given its final approval to this decision, after which further work will now be done on the revised plan only.

In the revised plan, only these two major intersections will be selected: construction will be done on Bakhtawar and Krishna Chowk only.

As per the new and revised plan, GMRL will now construct underpasses at only two places on the route. These two selected places are Bakhtawar Chowk and Krishna Chowk. The administration believes that the construction of underpasses at these two important places along the metro route will reduce the traffic pressure to a great extent and people will get relief from the jam. Now the plan to build underpasses at the remaining four places has been put on hold.

These six major places were earlier included in the project, know where the map has been changed.

In the initial outline of the metro project, a proposal was made to build a total of six underpasses so that the traffic below is not disrupted during and after the construction of the metro pillars. The original plan included Bakhtawar Chowk and Krishna Chowk, apart from Railway Road, Sector-5, Rejangla Chowk and Old Delhi Road from Sushil Aima Marg. However, now after the new announcement, underpasses will not be built on Railway Road, Sector-5, Rejangla Chowk and Old Delhi Road routes.

Construction work from Millennium City Center to Sector-9 speeds up, tender process has been completed

Amidst these changes regarding the number of underpasses, the main work of the metro project is also gaining momentum. Under the first phase of the project, tender has already been allotted for the construction of the portion from Millennium City Center to Sector-9. The focus of the officials is now on starting and completing the construction work of the metro line on time, so that the long wait of the residents of Old Gurugram can end soon.
