According to the police, at around 7:10 pm, unknown assailants threw a crude bomb on the road below the Mogabazar flyover. The explosion was so powerful that the bomb hit Saiful Siam directly on his head and he died instantly. The blast took place near the Assemblies of God (AG) Church in New Eskaton under Hatirjheel police station area.

Police engaged in investigating the motive of the attack
Ramna Division DCP Masood Alam said that a powerful cocktail bomb was thrown from the flyover. He said that senior police officers have reached the spot and the identity of the attackers and the motive of the attack are being investigated. Forensic evidence is being collected by surrounding the area.

Saiful used to work in auto accessory shop
Farooq, an eyewitness to the incident who runs a roadside tea stall, told that Saiful had come to drink tea. Suddenly there was a huge explosion. Saw that Saiful was lying on the ground and blood was flowing from his head. According to the police, Saiful Zahid worked in an auto accessory shop named Car Decoration and had gone out to buy breakfast at the time of the incident.
