In Ranchi on Wednesday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy at his residential office on Kanke Road. During this meeting, positive discussions were held for the progress of **coal and mining sector**. The main issues on which the Panchayat was held included Jharia Master Plan, Belgaria Township Project and other major topics. The Chief Minister, while sharing the vision of the State Government, stressed the need for coordination with the Central Government.

Discussion on coal mining issues

Various important topics related to coal mines were discussed in the meeting. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Jharia Master Plan and Belgaria Township Project have aimed to provide a dignified life to the displaced families. Apart from this, all issues related to new coal mining projects and mining operations were also raised. The Union Minister informed about the problems being faced in the projects, on which the Chief Minister immediately concluded that **The solution to the problems is possible only through Centre-State coordination.**

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, people of the tribal community came to the Chief Minister’s residence and praised him. On this occasion, positive steps taken by the Central and State Government regarding coal and mining projects were discussed. The officials agreed on issues like rehabilitation of displaced people, jobs and compensation, ban on gathering on government land. This makes it clear that mining operations are being conducted for the welfare of the local people.

During the meeting, policy decisions regarding mining royalty, compensation and freezing of government land were agreed upon. Besides, control of illegal activities in mining areas, local employment problem and effective utilization of social responsibility funds were also major points of discussion. All concerned officers were present in this discussion and emphasis was laid on maintaining constant contact.

State Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Private Secretary to Union Coal Minister Pankaj Jain and many other senior officials were present in this meeting, who agreed to give a new direction to this initiative.
