If linking is not done within the stipulated time, your PAN card may become inoperative, due to which many activities from banking to tax will come to a halt.

According to the notification of the Income Tax Department dated April 3, 2025: It is mandatory for those who have been issued PAN card after October 1, 2024, to link it by December 31, 2025. The last date for all other PAN holders was fixed as May 31, 2024. However, still Rs. This process can be completed by December 31 by paying a fine of Rs 1,000.

Disruption in banking services: For opening a new bank account, getting an ATM debit card and withdrawing Rs. There will be difficulty in depositing cash more than Rs 50,000.

investment ban: There may be a ban on trading and investment in the stock market of mutual funds.

  • Difficulty in government services and KYC

Due to inactive PAN card, your KYC process will be incomplete, due to which there will be hindrance in availing the benefits of many government schemes. Rs. Problems may also arise in doing bank transactions of more than Rs 10,000.

The Income Tax Department has requested all taxpayers to get PAN-Aadhaar linked as soon as possible to avoid any kind of financial or legal trouble. There may be problems due to increase in load on the server in the last days, hence it is advisable to know about this work ahead of time.
