Realme 16 Pro series to debut in India with a major push on portrait photography

Realme is set to unveil its latest Realme 16 Pro series in India on January 6, at 12:00 pm IST. The collection will feature two smartphones, the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro+. The company’s official YouTube channel will stream the launch event live.

The standout feature of the series is predicted to be the “200MP Portrait Master” camera. Realme indicates that this feature is to enhance portrait photography, providing enhanced depth, clearer details, and better skin tone colours. The company hasn’t released complete camera specifications so far, but the emphasis on portrait photography indicates Realme’s aim to differentiate itself in the crowded upper mid-range market.

Design is another key area of focus as it will feature a textured rear panel combined with a matte glass finish. The stylish design improves the sophisticated look, and the use of a silicon carbon-grade battery suggests increased longevity and better energy efficiency.

In terms of performance, the Realme 16 Pro series will utilise Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. This should result in improved gaming, quicker multitasking, and dependable daily performance. Both models will operate on Realme UI 7 built on Android 16 straight from the start, positioning them as some of the initial smartphones in India to debut with the newest Android version. Realme claims to provide long-term software support, guaranteeing three significant Android updates and four years of security patches.

Realme UI 7 will feature various AI-driven tools, such as AI Edit Genie 2.0, aimed at assisting users in photo editing and discovering fresh creative possibilities. Regarding pricing, the Realme 16 Pro is anticipated to begin at approximately Rs 30,000, while the Pro+ version might be around Rs 35,000. By adopting this approach, Realme aims to challenge competitors such as Xiaomi’s soon-to-be-released Redmi Note series, heightening rivalry in the mid-premium smartphone market.
