According to the report, these donations are mostly transactional. The people involved in this benefited from the Trump Administration. Trump Administration received big donation from 6 people of Indian origin. This donation is more than the $1.45 billion raised during the 2024 election campaign.

These Indians raised huge amount of money for Trump

A New York Times (NYT) investigation reveals that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella donated $3.5 million to the presidency. He was the largest contributor of Indian origin. Google CEO Sundar Pichai donated $1.2 million. One of the big donors from the non-tech industry was Anjali Sinha. The Patna-born orthopedic surgeon is now the American Ambassador to Singapore. Apart from this, the names of Adobe Systems CEO Shantanu Narayan, Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehrotra and IBM CEO Arvind Krishna are included.

While Trump is taking donations from the tech industry, especially from heads of Indian origin, his administration is working on ending the H-1B program, which was used by American tech big companies to hire foreign talent. The Trump presidency is the only presidency in history that has continued to lobby vigorously for further funding even after his inauguration. According to media reports, the investigation uncovered hundreds of donors, including at least 346 people who have donated $250,000 or more to the Trump presidency.

Nadella is the biggest donor of Indian origin

The NYT investigation identified at least six people of Indian origin among 346 high-level donors who donated between $750,000 and $3.5 million. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was identified as donating $3.5 million to the presidency, including $1 million for the inauguration, making him the largest Indian-origin contributor. In return, he was invited to the swearing-in ceremony, as well as to regular dinners, while the company benefited from the Trump administration’s decision to prevent US states from enacting separate laws on artificial intelligence.
