Bangladesh ruined under Yunus leadership, Pakistan’s increasing dangerous interference: Former MP!
Former Bangladesh MP AFM Bahauddin Naseem believes that the current interim government has brought the country to the brink of destruction. Yunus government is turning Bangladesh into a terrorist country and is trying to hand over the entire reins to Pakistan, which is a dangerous sign.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Awami League joint general secretary Naseem said that the Yunus government has brought Bangladesh to the brink of destruction through riots, killings and complete breakdown of law and order.
The former MP said, “Riots, vandalism and burning of properties have become common. Murders are taking place. Awami League members are being killed, religious minorities are being targeted and their houses are being set on fire. Common people or political workers who voted for the Awami League are being targeted. This has been going on for the last 16 months. The aim of this anarchy is to take Bangladesh to the brink of destruction.”
The Awami League leader’s statement comes after large-scale violence in Bangladesh over the past several months, resulting in destruction of properties. Riots have broken out and attacks on religious minorities, especially Hindus, have increased.
Naseem said, “Radical groups or terrorist groups are raising their heads in Bangladesh. They are associated with Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shivir and even Bangladesh Nationalist Party. They have joined the fascist Yunus government, which is taking the country to the brink of destruction.
It seems that the main goal of the Yunus government is to turn Bangladesh into a terrorist state and hand over the reins of the country to Pakistan. Today there is no rule of law in Bangladesh. There is no administration, no democratic and fundamental rights of the people are left. There is no freedom of speech and no human rights. Even the press is not free.”
Naseem came to India in August 2024 after the Awami League government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted. Speaking to IANS, Awami League joint general secretary said that the condition of Bangladesh has been miserable for the last 14 months. He said that nowadays Pakistani and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have a lot of influence in Bangladesh.
Naseem further said, “Muhammad Yunus is pro-Pakistan and his association with ISI is clearly visible. We see ships coming from Karachi carrying grains to Bangladesh. We have never seen this in the last 54 years.
We used to import rice from India at reasonable prices. Now we are being forced to import rice from Pakistan. Does Pakistan grow rice? Who are they trying to benefit financially?
Bangladesh is not there to propel Pakistan economically. Bangladesh is a free country. We fought against the Pakistanis. We cannot give them to Bangladesh on a platter.”
He also said, “Bangladesh belongs to Bengalis. We do not bow before anyone. We believe in maintaining friendly relations. We believe in friendship and brotherhood. We respect each other. This is our tradition and heritage.”
According to the Awami League leader, the current interim government of Bangladesh is trying to rewrite history and make it a den of “Pakistan supporters”.
The former Bangladeshi MP said, “The Yunus government aims to erase the sacrifices and dreams of ‘mukti yoddhas’ (freedom fighters). Their aim is to make Bangladesh a den of pro-Pakistan supporters.
ISI agents and affiliates of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba are roaming around and it seems that they want to take over. Now you cannot raise slogans of ‘Jai Bangla’ in Bangladesh.
Today you cannot take the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who liberated us from Pakistan. They are trying to rewrite history books and erase the contribution of ‘liberation warriors’. “They want to write new history books to avenge their defeat in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.”
