From scholarship to Ashirwad scheme, the government’s historic year in the direction of social justice – Minister Baljeet Kaur

Chandigarh: The year 2025 has been a historic year for the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, strengthening social justice, equality and empowerment. Saying this, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that during this year the government took such concrete and people-friendly steps which gave a new direction to the process of connecting the socially and economically backward classes with the mainstream of the society.

Social justice is not a paper agenda…

He said that during the year 2025, the Punjab Government’s thinking remained clear that social justice is not a paper agenda but a moral duty. The Government took steps to ensure that no child, youth or family is deprived of opportunities because of poverty, caste or social backwardness.

Trust in government schemes has increased – Baljeet Kaur

In the year 2025, Post Matric Scholarship Scheme becomes the strongest weapon of social justice. S.C. The application by more than 2.62 lakh students of this class is proof that trust in government schemes has increased. An attempt was made to free education from the shackles of poverty with a budget provision of Rs 245 crore.

Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that in the year 2025, Dr. B. R. The renovation of Ambedkar Institute was a symbolic and historic step. For the first time after almost 30 years, large scale construction, repair and strengthening of infrastructure was carried out at a cost of Rs 147.49 lakh and Rs 91 lakh was sanctioned for new works, making the Institute not just a building but a hub of opportunities.

He said that the year 2025 has given a new path to skill development and entrepreneurial thinking for the students of Scheduled Castes. With the introduction of new courses in Ambedkar Institute, the direction was set to make the youth not job takers but employment creators.

He said that with the approval of two hostels for boys and girls belonging to backward categories in Punjabi University, Patiala, the government has given the message that education is not limited to classrooms only, but safe accommodation is equally important.

“Daughters are not a burden, but the strength of the society.”

Ashirwad Scheme became a ray of hope for thousands of families during the year 2025. By providing assistance to more than 38,000 beneficiaries, the government made it clear that daughters are not a burden but the strength of the society.

Reserving Rs 13,987 crore from the state development budget for the welfare of Scheduled Castes was the biggest policy achievement of the year 2025. This amount is a strong step towards making social and economic development a reality.

There is no place for discrimination – Baljeet Kaur

He said that by providing financial assistance for inter-caste marriages during the year 2025, the Punjab government has given a clear message to the society that there is no room for discrimination. This step is more a sign of a change in social thinking than law.

Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that the year 2025 proved that the Punjab Government is fully committed to bringing the socially and economically backward classes into the mainstream. This year became not only a year of achievements but also a year of laying the foundation of a new social direction.
