What’s the weather like today? Snowfall on the mountains and ‘blind’ fog in the plains, know how the day will be in your city
The month of December has started showing its true colors and bone-chilling cold has knocked across the country. The situation is such that most parts of North India are wrapped in a white blanket of cold wave and dense fog, while snowfall in the mountains is becoming a disaster. The Meteorological Department says that it would be meaningless to expect relief in the next few days. The weather may worsen further in Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab. The biggest warning is for the hilly states, where there may be heavy rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal. So if you are in these areas or are planning to go, then be careful! There is the deepest fog in these cities. If you are going out of the house this morning, then be very careful! There will be such dense fog in about 22 cities of the country today that it will be difficult to see even a few meters away. Bihar: In many cities including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Darbhanga, it may be difficult to drive or even walk in the morning. Uttar Pradesh: Fog will be ‘orange’ even in big cities like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra. ‘Alert’. Haryana-Punjab: From Gurugram, Sonipat, Panipat to Amritsar, traffic can be adversely affected due to fog in the morning. People of Delhi, how is the cold today? The heart of Delhi is shivering with cold today. The Meteorological Department says that today and tomorrow, i.e. on 24th and 25th December, the night temperature may fall by 7 to 9 degrees. Due to dense fog in the morning, the speed of vehicles on the roads may remain slow. The real shiver will be felt after December 25, when the temperature of both day and night will fall. Uttar Pradesh: Sun’s holiday, fog continues to wreak havoc. Suraj Dada had given some relief in the last two days in UP, but this relief is about to end now. A warning of dense to very dense fog has been issued in 32 districts of the state for the next 4 days. Especially in districts like Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bareilly and Moradabad, people may have to face a lot of trouble in the morning. Bihar: No respite from cold due to ‘cold wave’. Bihar is experiencing severe ‘Kankani’ cold at this time. The situation is such that there is no difference in the temperature between day and night, due to which icy winds are blowing throughout the day. ‘Cold Day’ situation prevails in 14 districts including Patna, that is, people are not able to see sunlight even during the day. Gaya district remains the coldest in the state. Uttarakhand: Sunshine on the mountains, fog in the plains. The weather pattern is slightly different in Uttarakhand. Due to bright sunshine in Dehradun and mountains, people are getting relief from cold during the day. But in the plains, like Udham Singh Nagar, dense fog has made life difficult. The Meteorological Department says that the weather will be clear in the mountains for the next three days, but fog will continue in the plains.
