Yogi government alert for the safety of passengers, said – speed of buses should not exceed 40 km per hour in fog
Lucknow. The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is fully alert to ensure the safety of passengers during autumn and winter season. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, special guidelines have been issued by the Transport Department with the aim of providing safe, well-organized and uninterrupted transportation facility to the bus passengers in the state. Under this, instructions have been given to operate buses with extreme caution in conditions like fog and reduced visibility, to limit night services as per requirement and to inform the passengers about safety measures.

The speed of buses should not exceed 40 km per hour in fog.
Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) of Uttar Pradesh, has given detailed orders to the Transport Corporation and concerned officials regarding the safe and controlled operation of buses during the autumn/winter season. He said that in conditions like fog and low visibility, it is necessary to operate buses with utmost care and it is the responsibility of the state government to provide safe travel to the passengers.
The Transport Minister has directed that in foggy conditions, the speed of buses should not exceed 40 km per hour, whereas in extreme fog, the bus should be stopped at a safe place and operated further only when the visibility becomes normal. Instructions have also been given to inform passengers about safety measures by making continuous announcements through the public address system at bus stands.
Deployment of experienced drivers should be ensured

He said that night services on routes with dense fog should be limited as per requirement and deployment of experienced, accident-free and good fuel record drivers should be ensured in night services. Besides, it should also be ensured that the driver gets at least 8 hours of rest before going on night service. Instructions have been given to temporarily suspend night services with load factor less than 50 percent.
Alcohol test of drivers mandatory
Instructions have been given to conduct outshedding check at 13 points before sending the buses of long distance and night services and regular physical check at 31 points during operation. It has been made mandatory for all corporation and contracted buses to have fully functioning retro reflective tape, fog lights, all weather bulbs, wipers and mirrors. Instructions have also been given to conduct mandatory alcohol test through breath analyzer during inspection by interceptor and enforcement vehicles deployed on the route.
Government’s top priority is to take passengers to their safe destination.
The Transport Minister has asked drivers to take special care on three types of roads. Instructions have been given to avoid accidents by avoiding sudden stops on expressways, driving on the right side on roads with dividers, and driving on the left side on roads without dividers. He directed that all drivers and conductors should be given special training regarding these guidelines, so that operation of buses can be ensured with controlled speed and alertness. He reiterated that the Yogi government is fully committed to the safety of life of every citizen and taking the passengers safely to their destination is the top priority of the government.
