President Murmu and PM Modi expressed grief over Chitradurga accident, announced compensation for the victims
Karnataka Accident: A major accident took place in Chitradurga, Karnataka on Wednesday morning. There was a massive collision between a container lorry and a sleeper bus on National Highway 48 near Gorlathu village in Hiriyur taluk. After this collision the bus caught fire. At least 9 people are reported to have died due to burns in the accident. While many people are said to be seriously injured. President Draupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi have expressed grief over this tragic accident. Along with this, PM Modi has announced to give ex-gratia (compensation) to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Deeply pained by the tragic bus fire incident in Chitradurga, Karnataka, which has led to the loss of lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured.

Issuing a statement on behalf of PM Modi, the PMO wrote in X Post, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover as soon as possible. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the family of each deceased by PMNRF. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.”
