‘What are you waiting for now?’ Shashi Tharoor is appealing to include Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Team India.

Shashi Tharoor backs Vaibhav Suryavanshi: India’s teenage batting talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi won everyone’s hearts with his explosive batting in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. While playing for Bihar, he scored a brilliant 190 runs in just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. This innings comes a few days after a bad moment in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup. Now once again a debate broke out on whether this young player is ready to join the Indian senior team soon.

Most amazing domestic performance

Suryavanshi’s aggressive batting took Bihar to a shocking score of 574 runs for 6 wickets, which is the highest team total so far in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy. The innings stunned fans, experts and fellow professionals, with many calling it one of the most extraordinary domestic performances by a teenager in Indian cricket.

Shashi Tharoor also impressed

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was also impressed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performance. He said that Indian cricket is indeed witnessing special happy moments. He also remembered Sachin’s international debut at the age of 16. He wrote on his

befitting reply to critics

This innings was also a befitting reply to those critics who had raised questions on Suryavanshi’s game after failing in the Under-19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan. Instead of succumbing to that disappointment, the teenager displayed tremendous intelligence, timing and strength, easily dominating the senior domestic bowling attack and reinforcing the belief that he is playing way beyond his years.

Why can Vaibhav play in Team India now?

Even though Vaibhav Suryavanshi is showing great performance, he cannot get a place in Team India right now. The reason for this is a rule of ICC. Actually, the International Cricket Council has fixed the minimum age limit for international debut. This rule came in the year 2020, according to which no player can play international cricket below the age of 15 years. Vaibhav is currently 14 years old, he will turn 15 on March 27, 2026, then if the selectors wish, they can include him in the senior Indian cricket team.
