Noida, 25 December. A clear impact of strong winds has been seen on the air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR). After a long time, improvement in Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in many areas of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad and the area reached Orange Zone. On the morning of 25th December, people did not have to face dense fog, which brought great relief to common people. According to the Meteorological Department and local weather reports, on December 25, the maximum temperature was recorded around 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 6 degrees Celsius.
The temperature for December 26 and 27 is expected to be between 20 to 6 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of “dense fog” in the morning and afternoon on both these days. The humidity on December 27 is expected to be 75 to 100 percent. If we talk about air quality, AQI was recorded in the orange zone at many monitoring centers in Delhi. AQI in Narela (DPCC) 245, Nehru Nagar 275, North Campus DU 201, NSIT Dwarka 279, Okhla Phase-2 222, Patparganj 227, Punjabi Bagh 235, Pusa 250, R.K. Puram recorded 227 and Rohini 259.
These figures show that even though pollution has not completely ended, the situation has clearly improved compared to before. Improvement in air quality was also seen in Noida. AQI was recorded at 225 in Sector-125, 216 in Sector-62, 252 in Sector-1 and 206 in Sector-116. In Ghaziabad areas, AQI was 212 in Indirapuram, 262 in Loni, 243 in Sanjay Nagar and 265 in Vasundhara. AQI in all these areas has been recorded in the Orange Zone category.
Due to the strong wind, pollutant particles were spread, which thinned the smog layer and improved visibility. Its direct benefit was that the strict restrictions of Grape-4 were removed. After this, people have got relief in construction work, industrial activities and other important works. However, experts say that this improvement may be temporary. If the wind speed decreases and mist or fog increases in the coming days, the pollution level may increase again. Therefore, people have been advised to be alert, take care of health and follow pollution control rules.
