Rohtak Royals gets the ‘King of Defence’: Veteran Surendra Nada becomes the head coach, will create a stir in the first season of KCL
Rohtak. Rohtak Royals, the franchise representing the city of Rohtak in the inaugural season of the Kabaddi Champions League (KCL), has announced the appointment of Surendra Nada, one of the most respected names in Indian Kabaddi, as its head coach. With experience, leadership qualities and excellent tactical nous, Nada will prepare the Royals for their maiden campaign in the league. Born on 1 July 1987 in Jhajjar, Haryana, Surendra Nada is considered one of the best defenders the game has ever seen. Known for his lethal ankle-hold and consistently brilliant defence, Nada made a mark by scoring the most tackle points in the inaugural season of the Pro Kabaddi League. During his illustrious career, he also held the rare record of registering five consecutive ‘High 5’s, which shows his dominance in defence.
On his appointment as the head coach of Rohtak Royals, Surendra Nada said, “I feel honored to be given the responsibility of becoming the head coach of Rohtak Royals. This team represents a region where Kabaddi has deep roots. I want to work with the players to build a competitive team that plays fearless and intelligent Kabaddi. The Kabaddi Champions League is a great platform and we aim to set high standards from the very first season.” NADA has played an important role in India’s success even at the international level. He has won gold medals at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup, 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship, 2018 Dubai Kabaddi Masters and 2019 South Asian Games. His move into coaching is the next chapter in a career filled with discipline, fighting spirit and unwavering dedication to excellence.
