Political turmoil over Mithun Chakraborty’s statement ‘Don’t let Bengal become Bangladesh’, Congress-Left hit back

New Delhi, 25 December. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty appealed to the voters of West Bengal to vote against TMC and said, ‘Don’t let Bengal become Bangladesh’. However, politics has started on his statement. In this sequence, Congress and Left parties have retaliated on Mithun Chakraborty’s statement. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput said that Mithun Chakraborty has lost his mental balance.

Talking to a news agency, he said, “Bharatiya Janata Party did not give him Rajya Sabha, did not give him Lok Sabha, hence he is talking like a person who has lost his mental balance. He is talking about treason, he is calling Bengali speakers as Bangladeshi, he is trying to convert Bengali speakers into Hindus and Muslims. The place of such a person should be either in a mental asylum or in jail.”

At the same time, on Mithun Chakraborty’s statement, CPIM leader Hannan Mollah said, “For the last 15 years, there has been a very close relationship between BJP and Mamata Banerjee. That is why they will openly fight each other, abuse each other, but their main target is that they want to destroy the Left together.” Earlier, BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty gave a statement in Hooghly that they will not let West Bengal become Bangladesh.

“Some people believe that it will be fine to remain in power even if West Bengal becomes Bangladesh, but this dream will not be fulfilled. There are people like us who will fight till the last drop of blood,” he said. Mithun Chakraborty appealed to Hindu supporters of Left, Congress and Trinamool Congress to unite against Mamata Banerjee. He said, “You are my brothers and sisters. I am requesting the Hindus of the Communist Party and the Congress to unite. I will also say to the Hindus of the Trinamool, let us unite and vote against this government.”
