What will you do with this for your parents?” On this question, Karthik replied very simply, “I will first repay my father’s loan of Rs 26 lakhs!” His answer has won the hearts of fans and cricket lovers.

Journey from base price of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 14.20 crore

Karthik Sharma had entered the IPL mini auction with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. However, many franchises had their eye on his talent. As soon as the bidding started, the price kept increasing rapidly and within no time it crossed the figure of crores. There was a fierce competition between many big franchises to include Karthik Sharma in their team. Teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants were involved in the bidding war. Ultimately Chennai Super Kings won by bidding Rs 14.20 crore.
