In November 2025, India exported 42,993 utility vehicles, while passenger car exports were 40,519 units. This means that for the first time SUVs and UVs have outperformed cars. Passenger car exports stood at 4.3 lakh units in FY24, while UV vehicle exports reached 2.3 lakh units.

Car exports were 3.04 lakh units from April to November 2025. UV exports were close to 2.88 lakh units. This shows that the growth rate of SUVs is much faster than that of cars. Industry experts believe that FY26 will be the first year when SUVs outsell cars in full-year sales.
