Refunds of lakhs of taxpayers stopped, tension increased among people
Income Tax Refund Updates: Lakhs of taxpayers across the country are worried these days. The reason is the emails and SMS received from the Income Tax Department, in which it has been told that their income tax refund has been stopped for the time being. As soon as people received these messages, both concern and anger were seen on social media. Taxpayers say that if there was any discrepancy, the department should have been informed in advance.
Why was the refund stopped? what is the real reason
In the messages sent by the Income Tax Department, it has been clearly stated that the refund has been put on hold due to mismatch in the ITR filing. The department has Risk Management Process Said to be part of. That is, some errors were found in the refund claim, hence the process was stopped. The department has also said that complete information has been sent to the registered emails of the taxpayers.
Deadline of 31 December increased pressure
The biggest problem is that the last date to file Revised ITR is 31 December 2025. Taxpayers say that due to these sudden messages they have very little time left for correction. Many people wrote online that if information had been received earlier, they could have made preparations in time. For this reason people are now demanding extension of the deadline.
Anger on social media, demand for answers from the department
Many taxpayers have shared screenshots of the email and SMS on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. People are asking that everything was fine in the system throughout the year, then why was the refund stopped at the last moment? Some people say that this process is not transparent and the common man is being unnecessarily stressed.
