The company is going to start 2026 with the launch of a new and largest electric vehicle (EV) till date. This mega EV will be unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show to be held from 9 to 18 January. This model will be positioned at the top of Hyundai’s existing EV line-up, which currently includes the compact Inster to the flagship Ioniq 9.
New electric car will come with 800V charging system
Although Hyundai has kept the technical specifications of the new electric car confidential for now, the company has confirmed that it will have advanced electric architecture. The new EV will be provided with 800V fast charging system, which will reduce charging time and improve overall efficiency. This technology has already been seen in Hyundai’s premium EV models.
Updated Ioniq 6 will be seen in Europe
Along with the new EV, Hyundai will also showcase the updated Ioniq 6 at the Brussels Motor Show. This will be the first time that the refreshed version of the Ioniq 6 will be seen at a European motor show. Special attention has been paid to aerodynamics in this electric sedan. Mild changes have been made in the design, while technology and digital features in the interior have also been updated.
New facelift testing intensifies
Meanwhile, Hyundai has also started testing the facelift model of its popular mid-size sedan Verna. Recently it was seen testing on the roads of South Korea, while a few weeks ago its camouflaged prototype was also seen in India. New spy photos indicate that the Verna facelift is in advanced stages of development and could be launched in late 2025 or early 2026.
There will be major updates in cabin and safety
A new D-cut steering wheel has been seen in the test mule, which is of slim and modern design. This is expected to give a more premium and futuristic feel to the cabin. On the safety front, the 4th Gen Verna has already achieved a 5-star Global NCAP rating. ADAS Level-2 features are likely to be further improved in the facelift model, in which the accuracy of sensors and software can be increased.
Powertrain will remain the same
No major changes are expected in the powertrain options of Hyundai Verna facelift. It will continue to have options of the existing 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine (115 PS / 143.8 Nm) and 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol engine (160 PS / 253 Nm). 6-speed manual, IVT and 7-speed DCT gearbox will be provided for transmission.
Overall, Hyundai is set to further strengthen its hold in the market in 2026 with major updates in both the electric and ICE segments.
