Ahmedabad, Dec 25: Karnataka achieved a remarkable victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday by chasing down a massive target of 413 runs against Jharkhand, completing the second-highest successful run chase in List A cricket history.
Set a daunting target after Jharkhand posted 412/9, Karnataka reached the mark with five wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare. The standout performance came from Devdutt Padikkal, who scored a brilliant 147 runs, anchoring the chase and keeping his team ahead of the required rate throughout the innings.
Padikkal received strong support from Mayank Agarwal and Abhinav Manohar, who contributed key half-centuries to maintain momentum after the early loss of wickets.
The successful pursuit of 413 ranks just behind the highest chase in List A cricket — South Africa’s 435 against Australia in 2006 — underlining the magnitude of Karnataka’s achievement.
