Nanded. Bodies of a farmer, his wife and his two sons were found at two different places in Nanded district of Maharashtra on Thursday morning. Police suspect that it is a case of mass suicide.
Giving this information, an official said that at around 8 in the morning, the bodies of Ramesh Sonaji Lakhe (51) and his wife Radhabai Lakhe (45) were found on a cot in their house in Jwala Murar village of Mudkhed tehsil. The bodies of his sons Umesh (25) and Bajrang (23) were later found on the nearby railway line, the officer said. He said it appeared they had jumped in front of a moving train. The parents were found dead inside their house while the sons committed suicide on the railway track, police inspector Dattatreya Manthale told reporters. We have asked a team from the forensic science laboratory to collect evidence. The truth will come out only after complete technical investigation and post-mortem.
Police said his death appeared to be a suicide, but the exact circumstances were not yet clear. The officer said that the family belonged to a small farming community. But it has not been confirmed yet whether he took this step due to financial constraints or domestic crisis. Neighbors described the Lakhen family as hardworking. Nanded Rural Police is recording statements of family members and examining any notes or last messages left by the family.
