Pakistan starts preparations to win Asia Cup 2025, will play triangular series Gujarati
Many reports have been coming out for quite some time regarding the Asia Cup 2025 tournament. According to the report, this tournament will be played in UAE. However, before this tournament starts, Pakistan Cricket Board President Mohsin Naqvi has made a big announcement. According to Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan team will play a triangular series. This triangular series will be played in UAE. This series will help the Pakistan team a lot and it will also be easier for them to understand the situation there. Let us tell you that Pakistan last won the Asia Cup 13 years ago. They won against Bangladesh in 2012. This triangular series will be played between Pakistan, UAE and Afghanistan.
Speaking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi said, ‘This series will be played before the start of Asia Cup 2025 and we are confirming it.’ Mohsin Naqvi also said that the second triangular series is expected to be played in February 2026 which will be between Pakistan, Australia and Bangladesh. If we talk about Pakistan team, their performance in the recent T20 series against Bangladesh was very bad. Bangladesh won this T20 series 2-1. Bangladesh won the first two matches of this series while Pakistan won the third and final T20. Previously, Pakistan had toured New Zealand in March–April, in which they suffered a 1–4 defeat in the T20 series. New Zealand had clean swept Pakistan 3-0 in the three-match ODI series.
The final match of Asia Cup 2012 was played between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Dhaka. This was done in ODI format in which Pakistan batted first and scored 236 runs losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed scored the most runs for the team. He played an unbeaten inning of 46 runs while Mohammad Hafiz contributed 40 runs. In reply, Bangladesh could score only 234 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs and Pakistan won the match. For Bangladesh, opener Tamim Iqbal scored 60 runs while experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan contributed 68 runs. However, despite half-century innings by both these players, Bangladesh failed to win the match. For Pakistan, Ijaz Cheema took three wickets while Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gule took two wickets each. Now after 13 years, the Pakistan team will definitely have its eyes on Asia Cup 2025.
