Rajat Kapoor’s candid statement on Tabu’s husband’s return in Drishyam 3 doesn’t have a special arc for me

Major stars like Ajay Devgan, Shriya Saran and Tabu are making a comeback in the film. This time, once again in the film, veteran actor Rajat Kapoor will also be seen in the role of Kapil, husband of Meera Deshmukh (Tabu). However, the statement given by Rajat Kapoor regarding the role and development of his character is a bit interesting. He has candidly said that there is no special ‘arc’ (development or change in the story) for his character in ‘Drishyam 3’. Rajat Kapoor, who is known for his brilliant and mature acting, is often seen in strong supporting roles in films. In the ‘Drishyam’ series, he played the role of Mira Deshmukh’s husband, whose son Sameer Deshmukh was the center point of the murder mystery. When asked what new would be seen in his character in ‘Drishyam 3’, Rajat Kapoor jokingly said, “There is nothing like that, I was just standing behind Tabu, and that was it.” He further stressed and laughingly said, “There is no arc. I still stand behind Tabu!” His statement makes it clear that the story of ‘Drishyam 3’ will mainly focus on the conflict between Vijay Salgaonkar and Mira Deshmukh, and his character’s role may be limited to providing an emotional support to Mira Deshmukh. This frankness of Rajat Kapoor shows that he understands his role as an actor and plays it with complete sincerity, even if there is not much to do in that character as per the story. Ajay Devgan will be playing the role of ‘Vijay Salgaonkar’ in ‘Drishyam 3’ being directed by Abhishek Pathak. The film will be released in theaters on October 2, 2026, which has become a traditional release date for the ‘Drishyam’ franchise.
