Indigo Alert: Today again 67 Indigo flights canceled, passengers create ruckus at the airport; Know what is the reason
Indigo Flight Cancelled: The troubles of Indigo passengers are not ending. Even on Christmas day i.e. Thursday, Indigo canceled 67 flights at many airports. The company has cited bad weather and some operational reasons. It signals continued troubles for the airline, which is already grappling with regulatory scrutiny and reduced schedules.
According to information available on IndiGo’s website, only four of the canceled flights were due to operational issues. Most of the remaining flights were canceled due to fear of bad weather. The airports which were affected include cities like Agartala, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Varanasi and Bengaluru.
Effect of fog during this time
This new round of flight cancellations comes at a time when the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially declared fog season. DGCA has fixed the fog season from December 10 to February 10. During this period, air traffic is often disrupted due to low visibility in the northern and eastern parts of the country.
flight canceled due to fog
Under DGCA’s fog operations framework, airlines have to be fully prepared for safe landing even in low visibility. This requires that pilots have received CAT-IIIB operations training and use aircraft that are compatible with Category-III landing systems. Category-III technology allows planes to land even in dense fog. In Category-III-A, landing can be done even if the runway visual range (RVR) is up to 200 metres. The more advanced Category III-B allows operation in visibility of less than 50 metres, which is common during dense winter fog.
Advisory issued for passengers
Amid the cancellation of new flights, IndiGo issued a travel advisory on social media platform X, saying, ‘Low visibility and fog in Bengaluru has affected flight schedules. We are keeping a close eye on the weather and making every effort to ensure your safe and smooth journey.’ However, this advisory did not provide much relief to the angry passengers.
