But there are a large number of users who hastily or jokingly created a Gmail address years ago, which does not look professional today. Now due to the compulsion to remain connected to the same old email, they were not able to even use the new mail. Understanding this problem of the users, Google is now preparing to bring a big change.

Relief update for Gmail users

Till now it was almost impossible to change the Gmail address. Google only allowed accounts that were linked to a third-party email, such as Yahoo or Outlook, to change their email address. But now Google is testing a new feature, through which even normal Gmail users will be able to change their @gmail.com email address. This update will bring relief especially to those people who are troubled by their old or unprofessional email name.

What is the new feature of Google?

According to Google’s support page, the company is working on a feature that will allow users to change their Gmail address without deleting the account. This means that now you will not need to close your entire Google account or create a new account.

How will this feature work?

Under this new system, when the user sets a new Gmail address, the old address will not be deleted. It will continue to work like an Alias.

  • All emails, photos, files and messages coming to the old Gmail will remain completely safe.
  • No data will be deleted.
  • Users will be able to login to all Google services with both new and old email addresses.
  • This means that the identity will change, but the data and access will remain completely secure.

When will this feature be available?

According to TOI report, Google has started the rollout of this feature gradually. In such a situation, it may take some time for this option to appear on your account. But it is clear that in the coming time, Gmail users are going to get rid of their old email name.
