‘Ip Man’ actress racks up $21M in 11-hour livestream
Hong Kong actress Karena Ng has drawn widespread attention after generating sales of 150 million yuan (US$21.3 million) during an 11-hour livestream promoting clothing and lifestyle products.

On Tuesday, the keyword “Karena Ng’s livestream sales reach 150 million yuan” topped trending topics on China’s social media platform Weibo.
According to Theirsthe actress, best known for her role in “Ip Man 3,” promoted beauty and fashion items on the Red Note platform, also known as Xiaohongshu, with a focus on winter apparel, jewelry and cosmetics. The livestream began at 3 p.m. and ended at 2 a.m. the following day.
Ng hosted the broadcast throughout. While introducing cosmetic products, she invited fellow Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh to join the session. Her husband, businessman and billionaire heir Brian Sze, also appeared as a model for several men’s fashion items.
Women made up the overwhelming majority of viewers and buyers, accounting for 93% of the audience. The production team adopted an “At my house” theme, designing the set to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.
Industry observers praised Ng’s commercial appeal, noting that the strong sales were achieved during a traditionally slow period for consumer spending. Many viewers dubbed the 32-year-old actress the “new queen of livestreaming”.
HK01 said Ng’s sweet appearance, refined sense of style and sincere hosting approach contributed to her success in the new field.
Of mixed Chinese and French heritage, Ng entered the entertainment industry in 2010 and made her screen debut the following year.
She married Sze in 2024. Sze, 36, is a vice-president at a digital payments platform and a graduate of George Washington University. Chinese media have reported that his family’s net worth is estimated at HK$10 billion (US$1.28 billion).
