BJP attacks Cong, Trinamool over B’desh issue – Read

The BJP on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress over remarks made by its leaders on the situation in Bangladesh, while also targeting the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for resorting to a lathi-charge on people protesting against alleged atrocities on minorities in the neighbouring country.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in New Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the opposition of indulging in appeasement politics instead of standing united on what he described as a humanitarian issue.

“Senior leaders of the Congress party, like Digvijaya Singh, go so far as to justify the lynching of a Hindu by calling it an ‘action-reaction’.

At a time when the entire opposition should stand united with the government, because this is not a political issue but a matter of humanity, appeasement politics takes priority,” Bhandari said.
