Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while remembering ‘Bharat Ratna’ former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary, said that Vajpayee was an unattainable enemy of politics, who raised the prestige of India across the world. Discussing infrastructure development, Amit Shah said that before the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, investment in infrastructure was not considered a means to win elections. He broke this conservative thinking of Congress and took historic initiatives like the Golden Quadrilateral Project. Along with this, he presented the principle of peaceful use of nuclear power to the whole world.

He said that despite global pressures, Atal Bihari Vajpayee took a bold decision to make India a nuclear power nation. Even after the Kargil intrusion, he had clearly said that despite peace efforts, Pakistan has betrayed and talks are not possible until the infiltrators are driven out.
